Red Flag Campaign

It’s #BystanderTipTuesday!

Because intervening can be challenging, it’s important that we are aware of red flags in any situation. That’s why the Virginia Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Action Alliance created the Red Flag Campaign, a project in which those affected by sexual violence can share personal stories on red flags or posters that are posted around college campuses.

Seeing these red flags on campus and reading about others’ personal experiences allow students to feel confident and comfortable intervening in uncomfortable or dangerous situations.

SCTimes Sex Trafficking Discussion

Addressing sex trafficking isn’t easy.

Luckily, there are individuals in our Saint Cloud community who are not afraid to make their voices heard and speak out against sex trafficking.
These individuals believe that public involvement and speaking up are keys to combatting sex trafficking, as well as education.

Porn and Human Trafficking

What if porn and human trafficking are more connected than we think? In nine countries, 49% of women in prostitution said that pornography was made of them while in the industry.

#BystanderTipTuesday

Happy #BystanderTipTuesday!

Intervening can be difficult, especially when we’re worried about what others may think. Luckily there are tools you can use to make intervening less intimidating. Circle of 6 is a safety app that allows you to create a network of six friends or family members that you can reach with just a click of a button.Check it out here: http://www.circleof6app.comcircle-of-6

#SVMythMonday

It’s Sexual Violence Myth Monday! Share your myths with #SVMythMonday.

Today’s MYTH: Men need sex therefore prostitution must exist.

FACT: The sex of prostitution is not “sex” for women in it. Most men who use women in prostitution have other sexual partners.

No one needs sex like they need food, water, or air, and no one has the right to purchase access to someone else’s body. Buying women and children in prostitution is less about sexual gratification and more about power gratification. 85% of US johns have regular sexual partners, and 60% are married.

If you or someone you know has been sexually exploited, CMSAC is here to help: https://cmsac.org/human-trafficking-services/helping-photo
