Having multiple separate email accounts can help increase security. Law enforcement working in the electronic crimes unit recommend that users have a separate email account for personal use, professional use, and one for social media sites.

2. Create a Unique/Complex Password

It is important not to use the same password for all of your accounts (i.e. bank, social media, Amazon etc.) Hackers will often attempt to use the same password that was initially successful when hacking into one of your various accounts.

3. Beware of Phishing Scams

If a company or individual sends you an email asking for personal information, never give this information out. It could be a phishing scam or attempt to obtain your personal information for hacking into your accounts later or stealing your identity.
